ST ALBERT MINOR BALL HOCKEY

INFO

BASIC
RULES

SAMBH follows the rules and regulations of the Canadian Ball Hockey Association. Any rules not covered here are included in the CBHA Rulebook - link Some differences between ball hockey and ice hockey:

NON-CONTACT
SAMBH is a no hitting league. Body checking is not part of the game although some light contact can occur when gaining the ball. Non-contact promotes player safety, skill development and makes the game more fun to play and watch.

FLOATING BLUE LINE
This rule is meant to give players a bigger area to attack in the the offensive zone. The team must gain the attacking zone just like in ice hockey. The ball must cross the blue line first to set the zone. The attacking zone then reverts (floats) to the red (center) line. The attacking team then has half of the entire playing surface to control the ball. If the defending team sends the ball past the red line, the zone is reset to the blue line and the attacking team must clear the zone by crossing back behind the blue line.

ICING
Non-touch icing is used for all games

STICK INFRACTIONS -
4 MINUTE MINOR PENALTIES
High Sticking, slashing, cross checking, minor spearing, minor butt ending, head contact
Offending player must serve the full four minutes. If the opposing team scores a goal, a player from the team bench enters the game. Only one goal can be scored on the powerplay and, in this instance, the offending player must also wait for a stoppage in play (whistle) before entering the floor.

ONLY REGISTERED PLAYERS CAN PARTICIPATE IN LEAGUE
Coaches are responsible to ensure only registered players on the team roster participate. No subs.
No player may share their assigned jersey with another child without written consent by league.
League supplied player jerseys are assigned to each registered player at the start of the season.
Subject to fine/suspension
